Woodstock Library Annex

Woodstock, NY

The Woodstock Public Library Annex was designed for the notable upstate town’s existing library to extend its programming and address the need for a publicly accessible, flexible, and technologically-capable community room. The design provides space for meetings, trainings, and indoor and outdoor gatherings. Its elevated volume and remediating landscape respond to the sensitive wetlands site. Its architectural image balances new and old, with a contemporary design that includes sustainable materials and energy systems, while its scale and materials are in keeping with the local surroundings—continuing the progressive spirit and rural charm that put Woodstock on the map.
