Beukenhof Chapel

SCHIEDAM, THE NETHERLANDS

The Beukenhof Chapel is a place for worship and repose, designed to accommodate the unique cultures and traditions of different faiths. The enfolding of culture is reflected in the building’s geometry, with sculptural forms that emerge from the landscape, channeling the movement of water, people, and emotion. A delicate pattern of apertures in the roof bathes the interior spaces in diffused light, while the sounds of water flowing along the architecture’s surfaces and collecting in adjacent pools imbue a serene and contemplative atmosphere.
